Benji (or Tangyū) was most active during the first half of the twentieth century when he made more than twenty woodblock prints of flowers plus a few flower-and-bird prints. Twenty-two examples of these flower prints and two flower-and-bird prints are shown in this gallery. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Benji’s realistic drawing style was the norm for Japanese flower-bird artists working in the early 1900s.
